The party has not declared a CM candidate even though it is in power. With a tough battle on hands, the party is relying on its central leadership, including former CM BS Yediurappa, to see it through. The Congress is confident of a comeback despite reported rift between its two leaders, D K Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah. The two leaders represent two important sections the Congress wants to bring together in the state- - Vokkaligas vote and the non-dominant OBC vote. JDS is hoping for an Assembly with no clear majority party, seeing itself as the kingmaker.
